2007 Pinegate/Paul Boergert Memorial
Scholarship
The recipient of this year's scholarship is Emily
Davis, the daughter of Dan and Beth Davis and a
resident
of Pinegate for 16 years.
Emily graduated from Mentor Senior HighSchool in
June, 2007 with honors, where she was active in Top 25, gymnastics,
track, choir and ski club. For her Senior Project, Emily spent
time at the Phillips-Osborne School with the Kindergarten class
and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Outside of school, Emily has been active in softball
and vacation bible school. She was a member of the Pinegate Gator
swim team for 10 years. Emily has worked at the YMCA for over
two years as a gymnastics instructor and at JD Cleaners for two
years. Some of her interests also include scrapbooking, card
making, rollerblading, playing piano reading and skiing.
One of the things that has brought great joy to
Emily and her family is the Foster Child program. The Davis family
has been host to six children since Emily was in the 4th grade.
This has exposed Emily, as a big sister, to many backgrounds
of these children, in some of the most difficult times in their
young lives. This experience along with teaching gymnastics
and her Senior Project has led Emily to choose Education as her
career path, either in Early Childhood or Special Education.
Emily will pursue this ambition at Lake Erie College.
Please join the Board of Trustees and Trudy Boergert
in congratulating Emily in winning this award, and wishing her
the best of luck with the hard work awaiting her at Lake Erie
College.
