Shelli Talaganis - Treasurer
The Gator swim team has been an integral part
of summer for the youth of Pinegate for over 30 years.
Anyone under the age of 16 is eligible to be on the team. All
Gators must be able to swim one length of the pool. Practices
are held on weekday mornings throughout the summer. Meets are
held on Saturday mornings. The team competes in the Suburban
Swim League with other teams from Lake and eastern Cuyahoga
Counties. Swim team members refine their swimming strokes and
learn team spirit and sportsmanship. Fro more information, contact
any swim team board member or watch the Pinegate newsletter
for swim team announcements.
Suburban League Championships
The Pinegate Swim Team hosted the league championships
for the first time in their 30 year history this summer. The
meet took place at Garfield Park on Saturday, August 5th. The
meet was a huge success. Pinegate placed 7th out of 10 teams.
(Pinegate is the only neighborhood team, competing against city
teams from Lake and Cuyahoga County.) The success of the meet
was due to the hard work and numerous hours spent by many swim
team families. We would also like to recognize and thank the
many swim team alumni that volunteered: organizing the meet
and/or assisted the day of the meet!

This "for fun" league is a member of
U.S.S.A. (U.S. Slo-pitch Softball Association) and is open to
all Pinegate residents and Pinegate alumni age 16 and older.
Currently the league has six teams, each with 14-16 players.
Games are played on Sundays at 3:30, 4:45, and 6:00 P.M. The
regular season runs from mid to late April through late July.
A two week Round Robin playoff follows the regular season. Professional
umpires are employed for all games. Each team is sponsored by
a local business and each player is provided a team t-shirt
carrying the league logo and sponsor name. Teams are formed
via a draft following the close of registration. For more information,
watch the Pinegate newsletter or call the league commissioner(s)
or any team manager.
